UAE President participates in G20 Summit in Indonesia
The President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, attended the main session of the G20 Summit
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed first thanked Indonesia for its presidency of the G20 and its efforts to lead and coordinate the group’s work.
He then sent his best wishes to India as it prepares to take over the presidency next year. Moving on to the session’s theme, entitled “Food and Energy Security”, His Highness stated: “We in the United Arab Emirates believe that a balanced approach is most successful in achieving sustainability.”
“The UAE is committed to its responsible role in energy markets, including its clean energy priorities. “We have reflected that commitment with $50 billion in clean energy investments in more than 40 countries around the world. His Highness further stated that the UAE established the Mangrove Climate Partnership in partnership with the Republic of Indonesia and launched the Energy Transition Accelerator Financing (ETAF) platform in cooperation with the International Renewable Energy Agency
(IRENA). His Highness Sheikh Mohamed continued, “As a global economic hub, the UAE will continue concerted efforts to ensure more resilient and sustainable food and medical supply chains” in support of food safety initiatives and targets.
His Highness concluded by thanking the G20 delegates and looking forward to welcoming them to next year’s COP28 in the UAE. The official delegation attending the summit along with the UAE President included H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court; H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; and Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure
